SafeHouse is Unbelievably Easy to Use!

SafeHouse is very easy use. You do not need to understand anything about encryption technology nor do you need to change your work habits to use this software.

Below is a brief explanation of how the product is used. Better yet, see the product for yourself by downloading the free trial version. We guarantee you'll be impressed.

Step 1.  Install

SafeHouse installs in one easy step. Running the setup program is all that is required. Unlike many competing products, you do not need to repartition or reformat your hard drive.

Setup does not encrypt your files.

Please know that running the setup program does not encrypt your files. It simply installs the SafeHouse software. You always have complete control over when and if your files will be encrpted.

Step 2.  Create an Encrypted Volume

Once SafeHouse is installed, the first thing you must do is allocate a portion of your hard drive to hold your encrypted files. We recommend encrypting only your personal data files as there is generally little benefit to encrypting your application programs.

The space you reserve for encrypted files is called a container volume, which appears on your hard drive as a very large file.

Use this wizard to create your encrypted container.

This wizard will also ask you to choose a private password to safeguard your files.

Creating a volume does not encrypt your files. You are simply reserving space on your hard drive. Volume files may be expanded and compacted as needed.

Step 3.  Map the Volume to a Drive Letter

SafeHouse creates a new Windows drive letter to make it easy to access your encrypted data. Anything you save to the SafeHouse drive letter is automatically encrypted. In fact, this process is so transparent that the Windows operating system believes you've attached another hard drive.

Clicking the Map icon placed onto your Windows desktop by SafeHouse displays the password dialog shown below.

Enter your password to access files.

SafeHouse is fully-integrated with the Windows shell.

In addition to using the desktop icons to work with SafeHouse volumes, you can right click on any volume file to display a menu.

Right-clicking in Explorer

System Tray icon access to a robust SafeHouse control panel.

Step 4.  Use the SafeHouse Drive Letter Normally...

Use the SafeHouse drive letter just as you would any other drive. Using Explorer, you can drag and drop files to the SafeHouse drive letter to instantly encrypt them. You can even open wordprocessing documents and spreadsheets directly while they reside on the SafeHouse drive. In contrast to some competing products, with SafeHouse you do not need to manually move your files out of the encrypted area to work with them.

Step 5.  UnMap or Log Out when Done

When you are done working with your encrypted files, you can make them unavailable by clicking the UnMap icon, logging off as a user or simply shutting down your PC. Your files will not be accessible again until you click the Map icon and enter your password.
