Trinity --
The Heart of the Solution
Trinity is
ActivCard's scalable authentication software framework that improves
security, enhances user convenience, reduces costs and increases
productivity. Trinity is unique in that it combines strong authentication
with single sign-on, and uses a range of powerful
and secure authentication factors.
-
Trinity
verifies the user's identity, then allows access with a single,
secure sign-on to one, some or all applications at once.
-
Trinity
supports all major platforms (Windows NT, Novell, popular
Public Key Infrastructures [PKIs], Bloomberg and more), most
currently available software applications, and Web forms.
-
Trinity
works with any combination of authentication factors, including
passwords, tokens, smart cards or biometrics, and allows different
combinations for different users.
-
With
Trinity, you're not tied to ActivCard hardware. Other manufacturers'
devices are supported through standard interfaces.
-
Trinity
is completely scalable -- from a few users in one location
to literally tens of thousands scattered around the globe.
And it offers the flexibility to easily add additional authentication
factors such as smart cards, tokens or biometrics if you don't
already have them.
-
Trinity
is quickly and easily deployed with no end user downtime.
Add Trinity Client to your standard desktop build and activate
it when you're ready.
-
Trinity
is easily and efficiently administered. The Trinity Administration
Tool allows for complete user management, from credential
management to biometric enrollment and smart card issuance.
-
Trinity
Server integrates itself with your current LDAP directory
so that only a single incident of each user needs to be maintained
within the organization.
-
For added
user convenience, Trinity can capture any login dialog and
Web form that requires a password and can enable access with
one password or other authentication factor.
-
Trinity
is a powerful, proven software application in regular service
today at J.P. Morgan Chase, the Toronto-Dominion Bank, and
many other financial, government, pharmaceutical and medical
enterprises.

What's
New in Trinity 3.2
Trinity version 3.2, released in September, 2001, provides
users and administrators with a number of new capabilities
that increase security, performance and ease-of-use. In addition,
Trinity 3.2 further expands the wide range of options needed
for successful enterprise authentication deployments.
-
Datakey
model 330 FIPS 140-1 Level 2 smart card
Trinity now supports the Datakey Model 330 32K smart card.
This next-generation card not only doubles typical smart card
capacity from 16 kilobytes to 32 kilobytes, but is also FIPS
140-1 Level 2 compliant - a prime requirement for numerous
smart card projects.
-
Additional
hardware support
Thanks to Trinity's unified biometric architecture, users
can enroll or verify transparently between all supported fingerprint
scanners, including ActivCard's own BioMouse and BioMouse
Plus. A wide range of hardware options and complete interoperability
between the different devices delivers unprecedented flexibility
to enterprise organizations.
-
Precise
Biometrics
Trinity now supports the Precise Biometrics 100A fingerprint
reader and the 100SC combined fingerprint and smart card reader.
These compact devices feature silicon finger sensors and USB
interfaces.
-
Chicony
and Digital Persona
Trinity now also supports the Chicony keyboard with integrated
fingerprint scanner and smart card reader. The keyboard uses
Digital Persona fingerprint scanning technology. For desktop
authentication without an added peripheral, the Chicony keyboard
is a viable option.
-
Biometric
verification that improves over time
Trinity now features Biometric LearningTM, a technology that
allows for changes in fingerprint structure and skin condition
over months or years of use. This is particularly valuable
in locales that experience large changes in climate during
the course of a year and makes biometric verification applicable
to previously problematic users. Developed for ActivCard's
Fortune 500 clients, Trinity's Biometric Learning technology
offers a significant improvement in biometric verification
performance and overall ease-of-use - without any decrease
in security.
